Efforts to Attract Japanese Investors to Negeri Sembilan
18 September 2020 – Following a meeting with the Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, His Excellency Mr. Oka Hiroshi on 1st October 2020, the Embassy of Japan through Mr. Nakagawa Kazutaka its Commercial Officer, organized a dialogue session with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Japanese Chamber of Trade & Industry, Malaysia (JACTIM) in Kuala Lumpur.
JETRO was represented by it’s Managing Director Mr. Mai Onozawa while JACTIM was represented by Chief Coordinating Officer Mr. Kazuya Kitae and Secretary General Mr. Daisuke Tanaka. The Japanese Embassy Commercial Officer Mr. Nakagawa Kazutaka was also present.
Representing the Negeri Sembilan State Government were YB Dato’ Dr. Rafie bin Ab Malek the Chairman of Action Committee for Investment, Industrial, Entrepreneurship, Education and Human Capital Negeri Sembilan, Mr. Ab Rahim bin Ab Rahman NS Corp Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Najmuddin Sharif INVEST NS Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Zetty Hamimi Zakaria MIDA NS Director, Mr. Pardon Munawar UPEN NS Deputy Director and UPEN Officer Mr. Nurul Adzuar Basri, Mrs. Nadiah Abu Bakar NS Corp Strategic Manager, Mrs. Siti Salwa Said INVEST NS Manager and Mr. Muhammad Haziq NS Corp Officer.
Efforts from this dialogue session has opened greater space to promote and attract Japanese investors, whether existing companies in Malaysia to expand their business in Negeri Sembilan and new companies that have never operated in Malaysia to come and make Negeri Sembilan as a premise for their business operations.
Negeri Sembilan Government’s aggressive efforts to attract investors are to stimulate economic development which will open up quality employment opportunities as well as business opportunities, especially for the people of Negeri Sembilan. We are confident that these efforts will be successful in the short and long term. Japanese investment in Negeri Sembilan is quite considerable, and there is no less than 36 Japanese companies that currently operating in Negeri Sembilan.
