Samsung SDIEM Groundbreaking Ceremony
21st July 2022 (Thursday) – A groundbreaking ceremony was held today to commemorate Samsung SDI Energy Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (Samsung SDIEM) new manufacturing facilities that was officiated by YAB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (Prime Minister of Malaysia) via pre-recorded video.
This new project will be developed at a new site nearby Samsung SDIEM existing factory at Senawang with total investment of RM6 billion.
The said factory will focus on producing battery cells for electric vehicle and would create more than 1300 jobs for local population.
The ceremony was also attended by YAB Dato’ Seri Hj. Aminuddin bin Harun (Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan), His Excellency Lee Chi Beom (Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Malaysia), YB. Dato’ Hj. Zulkefly Mohamad bin Omar (Speaker of Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly), YB. Dato’ Dr. Razali bin Ab Malik (State Secretary of Negeri Sembilan), YB. Dato Dr. Mohamad Rafie bin Ab Malek (Chairman of Action Committee for Investment, Industry, Entrepreneurship, Education and Human Capital), Ms. Lim Bee Vian (MIDA Deputy CEO), Mr. Yoon Ho Choi (President and CEO of Samsung SDI Co. Ltd, South Korea), Negeri Sembilan State EXCOs and government officials from federal and state departments.
We wish a big congratulation to Samsung SDIEM for the opening of its first production of EV battery cell facility in Southeast Asia particularly in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. This is in line with State Government vision to attract more high impact, high technology, and new green energy projects in Negeri Sembilan.
